Release time:2026-02-16Publisher:Leah Li

On the morning of February 15 (the 28th day of the 12th lunar month), Southeast University's Jiulonghu Campus was adorned with festive red lanterns along the roads, while "Fu" character paper-cuts and window decorations graced canteens and dormitory buildings, filling the campus with a strong New Year atmosphere. Wu Xiaocheng, Secretary of the CPC Southeast University Committee, and Xing Jihong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Southeast University Committee, accompanied by administrators of the Party Office, General Affairs Office, Student Affairs Office, Graduate School, the College of International Students, and other relevant schools, visited and extended festive greetings to frontline on-campus staff on duty, met with students staying on campus during winter vacation, and had a New Year lunch together with them.

The delegation led by Wu Xiaocheng visited the Juyuan Canteen, Juyuan Dormitories 5-14, the power distribution room, the library property site, and the North Gate guard room to greet frontline staff.  They learned in detail about the progress of holiday services including catering support, dormitory management, power supply, environmental sanitation, and campus security. They also carefully inquired about the work arrangements and living conditions of the staff, extended sincere festive greetings and best wishes for the Spring Festival to all personnel on duty during the holiday, and expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their dedicated efforts in safeguarding campus safety and stability and ensuring a peaceful festival for teachers and students remaining on campus.

At the Taoyuan 1-2 Dormitory Complex, nearly 40 students staying on campus happily put on red scarves with the teachers. In a warm and lively atmosphere, Wu Xiaocheng talked with teachers and students about the New Year and the future. He highlighted the school's outstanding achievements in teaching, scientific research, talent development, and internationalization over the past year. Looking ahead, he urged students to join the school in addressing the question of "How will Southeast University move forward in the next decade?" He noted that the university had reviewed and adopted the "Ming Shi Strategy(名世方略)"—"Implementation Opinions of Southeast University on Accelerating the Construction of a World-Class University with Chinese Characteristics", which outlines a three-step strategic plan for the next decade to join the ranks of world-class universities at an early date. Thisis the long-cherished wish of generations of Southeast University people and the shared mission of all teachers and students. He called on all teachers and students to work in unity, uphold the school motto "Strive for Perfection" with the“spirit of the dragon and horse” (symbolizing vigor and diligence), and pursue excellence to jointly achieve the grand goal.

Subsequently, Wu Xiaocheng and the teachers presented carefully prepared New Year gift packs to the students, and together they pasted Spring Festival couplets and window decorations, hung Chinese knots, and displayed Year of the Horse mascots. During the event, Wu Xiaocheng had cordial conversations with the students, inquiring about their study plans, living conditions, and practical needs during the winter vacation, and posed for a group photo with them at the entrance of the Taoyuan Dormitory.

At lunchtime, in the Taoyuan North Canteen, teachers and students experienced 8 intangible cultural heritagecrafts such as rubbings, feeling the New Year flavor and conveying Spring Festival wishes through their fingertips. Fun games and lucky draws were interspersed, with surprise red envelopes continuously distributed. At the official start of the luncheon, Wu Xiaocheng and Xing Jihong personally handed out New Year redpackets to each student staying on campus, symbolizing a prosperous new year and"instant success"(a pun on the Year of the Horse). The buffet table featured auspiciously named dishes such as "Golden Ox Delivers Blessings" (tomato braised beef brisket), "Great Luck and Prosperity"(spicy chicken), and "Reunion"(vegetable fish ball soup), embodying the school's best wishes for students' growth and success. After the meal, each student received a personalized sugar-coated hawthorn blind box.

It is reported that to ensure teachers and students staying on campus enjoy a joyful, peaceful, and empowering Spring Festival, the university has made meticulous preparations. From February 15 to 19, for five consecutive days, it will serve steaming free exclusive meals for the Year of the Horse at four canteens across the Jiulonghu, Sipailou, and Dingjiaqiao campuses. The university will continue to ensure service guarantees for students staying on campus during the winter vacation, providing all-round support for their campus life, so that every student remaining on campus can feel the warmth of the Southeast University family and embark on a new year's journey of growth with the“spirit of the dragon and horse.”
